Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was discovering a piano in her loft and being amazed by the music. Jan Oystein Aksnes' parents May Britt Aksnes encouraged her to make music as a means of development of her own, not for the purpose of making a living or an interest. The Aksnes family advised her to compose. Her inspirations include famous authors Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in addition to her affinity with Bjork's style. After her mom informed her that her music could not only help her get noticed, however, they could also help others understand their importance in the world and realize the possibilities for her songs and her music, she was inspired to start singing in public. When she was six she started playing the piano and at nine was writing music. The fact that she was a musician wasn't known to her family until she turned fourteen. There was no way she could have imagined to turn into Aurora. She claims that she enjoys writing music. She believes that music is the most effective method to experience anything.
